About Lana
Lana is a vocal arts collaborator, music educator, and new music advocate comfortable in styles ranging from sacred choral music to immersive cabaret. In addition to serving as the collaborative pianist for EMBER Lana accompanies the renowned multicultural Young People’s Chorus of New York City, and supports sacred music at various congregations in Manhattan. Lana has collaborated with Lincoln Center, Columbia Teacher’s College, The American Opera Project, Talea Ensemble, and Rhymes With Opera to develop and premiere new music. She has worked with d/Deaf and hearing artists for the Columbia Teacher’s College, and is currently co-commissioning a song cycle by Ukrainian composer Olena Ilnytska.
Lana is Adjunct Professor and Vocal Arts Coach at Hunter College, accompanying the choral program coaching the Hunter Opera Theater. As a scholar-practicioner, she is embedded in the Dr. A. J. Hudspeth Laboratory of Sensory Neuroscience at The Rockefeller University facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue. Lana is a Staff Contributor to I CARE IF YOU LISTEN, the multimedia hub for living music creators powered by American Composers Forum, and her music journalism is in the Library of Congress. She has studied with Margrit Zimmermann, Geoffrey Burleson, Glenn Morton, and Miriam Charney.
