The critically acclaimed ensemble of Ember Choral Arts

ABOUT EMBER

Known for its warm, flexible sound, Ember is the semi-professional performing ensemble of Ember Choral Arts. Founded in 1995 by Deborah Simpkin King, Ph.D., Ember performs its entire concert season in Manhattan and in Northern NJ. Its unique programming features new music (largely by living composers) with a socially pertinent message. Ember draws singers from eleven counties throughout New York and New Jersey.

Meaningful initiatives, organically evolving out of perceived needs and unique talents within the organization, define Ember Choral Arts even beyond its ensemble's well-reviewed high quality in performance. Having taken a groundbreaking leadership position on new music advocacy with the creation of PROJECT : ENCORE™ in its second decade, the organization is broadening its already-unusual presentational style to include media companionship in live performance – this as the launch of its third-decade drive to reach out to a new generation of live-performance devotees and a new virtual audience.
