EMBER & AMERICAN MODERN ENSEMBLE— LOOK TO THE SKY

Ember Choral Arts and American Modern Ensemble join forces to present an evening of music for choir and instrumentalists (violin, cello, piano, flute, clarinet, percussion). This concert features conductor Deborah Simpkin King and features Robert Paterson’s Listen, a new work about climate change, commissioned by Ember Choral Arts, and Look To The Sky. a new work commemorating 9/11, commissioned by the New York Choral Consortium. Other works TBA.

“VOICES” of the Holocaust

At New York City’s Central Synagogue 

Pre-Event Q&A with Music Icon Paul Shaffer and Composer Michael Shapiro

Free public concert based on Sephardic poetry of the Holocaust, including performances by tenor soloist Senior Cantor Daniel Mutlu, Ember Choral Arts, and the American Modern Ensemble conducted by Deborah Simpkin King.

As the global population surpasses eight billion people, we must come together to discuss the realities of our impact on the planet and each other. In this thought-provoking choral concert, we explore how we can use this staggering milestone in three sections: The impact of nature and how we interact with it, The importance of education, especially for young women, and The importance of innovation and dreaming of new ways to address the world’s new challenges. 


Ember Gala 2023

Join us in Lower Manhattan at the Grand Hall for our Annual Gala! This is our first GALA since the pandemic! This exciting evening will feature two hours of savory international hors d'oeuvres and food stations. One hour of sweets and treats. An open wine bar. Entertainment by both EMBER and a guest artist. There will also be a silent auction, giving trees and other game(s) of chance as fundraising opportunities. This year the Impact Award will be given to our wonderful Treasurer Richard Seeger.
