About James

Originally from Florida, James is a versatile artist with a passion for the performing arts. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from the University of Central Florida's conservatory theater program, with additional coursework in piano and Musical Direction. James attended the Dreyfoos School of the Arts for Technical and Musical Theatre. He also holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the College of St. Elizabeth and is a licensed school-building leader and supervisor.

As a performer, James has achieved notable career highlights, including portraying Bobby in A Chorus Line, Czolgoz in Assassins, and Jack in Into the Woods. He has garnered critical acclaim at several professional theaters for his roles, such as The Ugly Duckling in Honk! and Bobby Strong in Urinetown. Throughout his career, James has had the privilege of training under esteemed performers in theatre and film, including Faye Dunaway, Carl Anderson, Alice Ripley, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Laura Benanti. Additionally, James is an accomplished keyboard player, conductor, orchestrator, and arranger, having directed and piano-conducted productions of Nunsense, Lucky Stiff, John and Jen, and the national tour of Menopause: the Musical.

With his expertise extending beyond performance, James has excelled as a technician and production manager, working in renowned venues throughout New York and New Jersey, including The New Victory Theatre, New World Stages, and The Playstation Theatre. As a director and technical director, he has earned numerous accolades, including 138 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Nominations and 36 awards. Notably, James received personal recognition for Outstanding Director, Outstanding Music Director, and Outstanding Overall Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2010. He also received the Rising Star Award for Best Co-Choreography for his work on Cats in 2013 and directed and co-choreographed Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies, which won nine Rising Star Awards in 2015. In 2018 he won best musical for the third time for his production of Peter Pan

Currently, James serves as the Part-Time Director of Operations for Ember Choral Arts, a renowned choral organization. In this multifaceted role, he oversees public relations and marketing, logistics, venue coordination, and social media management. James leverages his expertise to create visually appealing marketing materials, execute seamless event planning, and maintain a strong online presence for Ember Choral Arts. His multifaceted skill set and unwavering dedication contribute to the organization's continued success and establish it as a leading force in the world of choral arts.
